The part time course in Fundamental Audio Technology is part time course that has been running for over 15 years in various formats, and changes or improvements have been dictated by developments in technology and indeed in the industry.

This course will prepare prospective students in the Fundamentals of the Theory of Sound, including elements such as Sound energy, microphones, speakers, units of measure, the decibel, mixers, amplifiers / processors, headroom, equalization, effects and Basic System Design.

Also, in the Practical Audio Technology module, students will work hands on with equipment. Developing skills in Basic Studio Set up, Connecting and Operating audio equipment, Mixing and Fault Finding
For some time now this course has included the introductory course into Pro Tools, Namely Pro Tools 101, Pro Tools is the world leader in DAW’s (Digital Audio Workstations) and this 101 course includes: Getting to know Pro Tools, Creating your first session, Making your first audio recording, Importing media, Making your first MIDI recording, Selecting and navigating, Basic editing techniques, Introduction to mixing and Finishing your work.

As Africa’s only fully accredited Pro Tools training center, anyone that has completed this Pro Tools 101 module can then continue on with all of the other Pro Tools modules at the Academy of Sound Engineering.
The duration of this course is 12 weeks and the classes are run in the evening. Enrollments are open NOW for the next course starting on the 13th of August 2012.
