That time of year again when we a few South Africans get to head up north to Frankfurt and experience the cream of the international sound and lighting industry all under one roof. This years 2014 Pro-Light and Sound in Frankfurt was no different. I was amazed at the amount of South African suppliers and customers who took the trip. With the Euro sitting south of R15, they must all be eager to see what’s what on the edge of Technology. This year Myself, Renier Smit and Evan Lyle of the Electrosonic KZN Branch made the trip. We believe that these trips inspire staff and foster relationships thus the decision to send a 3 man strong team to Frankfurt this year.

Once again the show featured prominent Sound and Lighting Manufacturers displaying their wares. As a lighting supplier, ill focus on the Lighting aspect.
Pro- Light and sound this year featured pretty much all the leading players in the industry. All with impressive stands and events around the show. The Show is a real mixture of meetings with our suppliers, dealer conferences and spending time with clients. Our goal to make them feel welcome on our supplier’s stands and to add a personal touch to viewing new products and technologies. Add to that a few rather late nights and essentially you don’t need a sleeping pill on the plane back home.

Pro-Light and Sound provides an ideal platform to preview and or launch new products. Our suppliers were no different. The industry has been crying out for more options in the moving light mid-range LED profile segment, and Martin Professional rose too the occasion with a showing of the yet to be released Martin MAC Quantum Profile alongside the MAC Quantm LED Wash. For us this LED profile has been a long time coming and we cannot wait bring the workhorse unit to South Africa to dazzle our clients. Martin also hosted a fabulous evening in a leading Frankfurt club called “the Gibson’. This venue kitted out to the hilt in Rush by Martin Fixtures was a memorable evening.

New products from Green Hippo included the Hippo Critter aimed at the smaller, less demanding media server user, updates from CM Lodestar to the established line. Milos had some interesting bit and pieces to make their truss line up more flexible in an exhibition environment. Litec have consolidated and are more focused on niche products. ADB showed their new range of control desks and Electron showed their ever expanding range of Led products.

Pro-Light and Sound 2014 also provided an opportunity for Electrosonic SA to seek new and innovative products from reputable suppliers to represent in South Africa. This year was no different and we will be announcing some new acquisitions in the very near future.
