Earlier this year, Prosound hosted the first Sound School of 2018, and then as an ongoing process, taking it on the road, offering sound courses to Houses of Worship that require these skills.

Acts Christian Church in Midrand, near Johannesburg, was the venue for the August edition of Sound School, thanks to Pastor Peter De Fin. The course ran from August 28 until August 30 2018.

Prosound Sound School started in 2010 and has been running courses that teach students the fundamentals of audio. Students are often drawn from the churches in the area, and it was with this in mind that Prosound developed a course designed specifically for the House of Worship market.

Sound School is a three-day comprehensive overview of audio principles and incorporates both theory and practical training. The final day of the course is devoted to setting up a live band and taking the helm for an entire show. PA set up, running cables, mic placement and monitor mixing is all part of practical day. The course is developed by Prosound Technical Director and Naledi Award-winning sound designer, Mark Malherbe, and presented by the incredibly experienced Lee Brune.

Students at Acts Church were also incredibly fortunate to be introduced to the world of sound by getting to work on top brands and products. Acts Christian Church have installed a Midas Pro X and Meyer Sound line array.

Prosound will be hosting more Sound Schools in the future and look forward to taking it on the road to houses of worship across the country. Please contact Lee Brune on Lee.brune@prosound.co.za fpr more information.
