For 2 weeks in January/February 2014 Simon Harris, User Experience Manager for media server manufacturer Green Hippo, travelled to South Africa to run 7 days of HippoSchool training in Johannesburg, Durban and Cape Town in association with South African distributor, Electrosonic.
Much of the hard work in arranging training events relates to preparation. Electrosonic excelled by setting up all three locations in advance and inviting the majority of key people from across the entertainment technology industry to learn the ways of the world’s favourite media server, Hippotizer.
HippoSchool is designed to teach everything required to program Hippotizer media servers for a show. Covering topics such as MediaManager, DMX control, PixelMapping, VideoMapping & Timeline Programming amongst others, the attendee’s were given the chance to get “hands on’ with the majority of servers manufactured by Green Hippo.
The attendance levels for the sessions at all 3 locations were great and a perfect balance of questions and answers was achieved throughout. Despite the huge range of subjects and features that needed to be covered within the time available, the HippoSchool programme was highly successful in meeting everyone’s needs. Based on the feedback already received, including orders for systems, it is fair to surmise that the programme was a great success.
Green Hippo has high hopes for the success of Hippotizer in South Africa after teaming up with Electrosonic in 2012. Certainly after the success of these training sessions we remain confident in the potential of the product range and its capabilities in the Live Events and Installation market within South Africa.
