Pick n Pay recently celebrated the end of 2018 by inviting registered Smart Shopper customers to a Christmas party complete with entertainment, food stalls, wine tasting, a children’s play area and even an appearance from Father Christmas himself.

Held in the garden outside the Springbok Rugby History Museum at Cape Town’s iconic V&A Waterfront, the event’s organisers – the WorldSport Group – contracted ULTRA to supply all technical requirements.

This consisted of a 6 x 10m StagePlus stage; a JBL VRX sound system with full band backline, microphone and monitor systems; and a complete lighting rig.

Eager to test out the new P1 range from Portman Lights, the company added these professional stage lights to the rig at no extra cost.

Freelance lighting designer Daniel Vorster was in charge of the rig for the night, delivering a great-looking show with the intuitive, easy-to-use P1s in his arsenal. These beautiful fixtures – which boast 7 DMX channels, built-in dimmers and 7 x 230W halogen lamps (with 3- and 5-pin XLR connectors) – can easily be installed on a tripod or hung on a clamp, meaning that – in addition to their stylish design and impressive output – they are incredibly versatile.

Patrick Dudgeon– Senior Technician at ULTRA events – comments: “The Portmans are visually appealing, offering a retro contrast to the futuristic-looking moving heads. They are easy to program, and ULTRA looks forward to using them on many more shows and offering this exciting new option to our customers.”
