From humble beginnings, JMVR restaurant owner, Mike van Reenen, had the right idea when he opened his first venue “Soccer Shack’ in Pretoria 15 years ago.
Today he owns and manages five successful venues in Pretoria, one of which is Europa Night Club situated in Sunnyside. Europa has been open for eight years and the time came for Van Reenen to upgrade the sound and lighting for the venue, making it on par with international specs.
The audio system was done by Wild & Marr, and DWR Distribution was approached to manage the lighting upgrade. Schalk Botha from DWR worked with Van Reenen and JMVR Regional Manager Henno van Wyk on the perfect solution to highlight the key areas.
After a few meetings and demos, Robe’s Robin 100 LEDBeams and Robin CYCFX 8’s were installed to handle the dance floor while Longman F4UP RGBW LED pars along with 011A Colorme stagebars take care of the stage. A LeMaitre MVS hazer creates the desired atmosphere and everything is controlled via an Avolites Titan ONE Touch PC system.
Van Wyk commented that the entire process was executed smoothly – from first meeting to final handover. They working alongside DWR’s JC du Plessis who did the initial programming and training on the Titan control system.
Now with Phase 1 completed, there is great exctiment to start with Phase 2, which will be a total revamp of the lighting system.
