The entire backbone of Studio Two and Studio Five at Sasani Studios is being
upgraded and futureproofed with a new dimming system which was awarded to
DWR Distribution.
Based in Highlands North Johannesburg, Sasani Studios dates back to the early
eighties, having provided top quality television studios and services to the television
and film industry. Studio Two and Five are predominantly used for the filming of TV
dramas, feature films and soapies.
JP De Vernon from DWR says the new system will include a complete dimmer and a
custom-built patch bay system. “We decided to go with a total of 24 LSC Gen VI,
which is an Advanced Dimming System that allows you to configure the channels to
either dim or to provide hot power to LED, moving lights and even audio power
amplifiers. The custom-built patch bay, there are 16 in total, was designed by Carl
du Preez, Duncan Riley and I according to what Sasani’s needs were. Carl spent
numerous hours on drawing and design concepts and the client was happy with the
end result.’
With the future in mind the next step will see Sasani upgrade fixtures to LED
technology.
